About us:We are New Englanders, located in the northeast corner of the United States. We hail from towns dotted along the Green Mountains of Vermont and the sandy coastlines of the Bay and Ocean States. The White Mountains and wilderness of (the free state) New Hampshire and the Gold Coast of Connecticut we call our home. The dense forests of Maine lend us the Pine Tree emblem affixed upon our flag proudly uniting the region for hundreds of years and today our cause for empowering people around the world. We welcome anyone who wishes to join us!

Monday Morning Impact - 11/17/08

Hello Team New Englanders! Every Monday we will assess the team's overall impact and our ranking in relation to the rest of the Kiva community. As of 12 AM on 11/17/08 this is how things stand:

Members: 27 - - - Ranking: 111 of 2,662 --> From 2 Weeks Ago (+4 Member : +7 Ranking)
Loans: 129 - - - Ranking: 74 of 2,662 --> From 2 Weeks Ago (+12 Loans : +2 Ranking)
Money: $3500 - - - Ranking: 83 of 2,662 --> From 2 Weeks Ago (+ $325 : +1 Ranking)

The last two weeks has seen a slow, but steady stream of loans initiated by Team New England. It seems the economic slowdown is starting to assert itself in all facets of the economy including philanthropy as even with a slowed lending pace the team has maintained its position in nearly all available metrics. Unfortunately all indications point to further deterioration of world markets and the sad reality is when there is a slowdown of this magnitude it is always the least developed markets that are hurt the worst. With that in mind we must remember that with each loan we are not only helping individuals achieve their goals, but in many cases creating jobs in places that need them most. One loan can impact far more than the lone individual on the receiving end, it can benefit an entire community.

Happy Lending everyone!
